There are a wide range of sedative oils to choose from, an understanding of their other attributes or scent preference could be the deciding factor for selection. Choose from: jasmine, lavender, marjoram, enrolls and basil, bergamot (1 per cent), camphor, chamomile, frankincense, geranium, juniper, Melissa, rose and sandalwood. Use 4-6 drops as bath oil before bed, (three for children, premixed with an alcohol or vegetable oil to insure dispersal). Try one essential oil for two weeks, and then if insomnia persists, change to different sedative oil so that the body doesn’t become accustomed to oil alone. Mental fatigue Rosemary, basil and peppermint. Select the essential oil or oils you want to use according to their therapeutic benefits; usually not more than three or four.
